Mumbai Educator and Writer Ashima Syal Honoured for Using Words to Empower Women Across India

Honouring Women Empowerment Through Literature & Education

In a heartfelt celebration of women using education and literature as tools for empowerment, Ashima Syal has been nominated for the Special Recognition Category under the Tribute Global Digi Awards for Women 2025, hosted by The Holistic Pine: International Independent Lifestyle Journal.

Launched this month, the Special Recognition Category aims to honour extraordinary women whose contributions may transcend standard award labels—those who are creating meaningful change in their communities through unique paths. Whether it’s through education, writing, activism, or public service, these nominees represent voices that inspire and uplift. The recipients of this honour receive the same platform and recognition as the primary awardees, including media coverage, digital certificates, and a formal Prashastipatra (Letter of Citation).

Ashima Syal is a dedicated writer, educator, and researcher based in Mumbai. Currently serving as an Assistant Professor at KESS Shroff College, she teaches communication skills to graduate students while simultaneously pursuing her Ph.D. in English Literature. Ashima’s academic journey began at SNDT Women’s University, where she led free public speaking workshops for women students—an early indication of her passion for building confidence and voice in young women.

Ashima’s work lies at the intersection of spoken word poetry, creative writing, and social awareness. Through her ongoing research and workshops, she strives to create safe spaces for women to express their stories and challenges—especially those that often go unheard. Her mission is to build a writing community that empowers aspiring voices and nurtures mental and emotional well-being through the written word.

“I truly believe that the pen holds the power to change the world,” Ashima shared in her nomination. Her commitment to cultivating confidence, creativity, and communication skills among youth stems from a larger vision of societal transformation. “Social anxiety and fear of self-expression are very real today. Through public speaking and writing, I aim to help young people overcome those fears and step into their own power.”

Ashima’s worldview is deeply shaped by literary icons like Amrita Pritam, whose bold and unapologetic poetry taught her that writing must break free from inhibitions. She also draws strength from leaders like Indira Nooyi, who has inspired her to pursue excellence without compromising on personal values and balance.

With her nomination under the theme Women Empowerment Through Literature & Education, Ashima Syal joins a growing list of remarkable women being spotlighted not just for their professional achievements, but for the transformative impact of their work.

Stay tuned as The Holistic Pine continues to unveil more nominees across the Tribute Global Digi Awards for Women 2025. These recognitions aim to highlight the brilliance, compassion, and resilience of women across disciplines—reminding us that true impact comes from intention, not just accolades.
